Director of LTL

As the Director of LTL (Less-Than-Truckload), you will leverage your industry experience and draw on your successes to further develop and grow the LTL business for Spot.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with a portfolio of clients; partner with clients to understand their business, their products, and their transportation needs.
  • Coach and mentor the LTL Operations team, and provide feedback on a regular cadence.
  • Develop team and individual KPIs to meet the Company’s LTL needs.
  • Manage all LTL carrier-related issues regarding pricing, performance, customer satisfaction, etc.
  • Creation and continuous review of carrier performance and carrier scorecard.
  • Work closely with both Account Managers and Sales leadership in conducting customer onboarding, quarterly business reviews, and client-specific pricing execution and strategy.
  • Analyze and evaluate current and future LTL programs including general, blanket, and customer-specific programs.
  • Maintain and review all LTL carrier rules, contracts, and tariffs.
  • Leverage industry knowledge to develop high-level RFP strategies, improve existing carrier relationships, and grow overall LTL offering.
  • Ensure the department’s development and growth aligns with corporate development goals.
  • Advise sales management and team on sales tactics and progress.
  • Leverage internal and external data to gain customer insights and uncover new growth opportunities, increase sales to retain and grow the business by presenting long-term solutions to customers.
  • Utilize 3rd party platforms to provide bulk LTL rates to customers and the Spot sales team.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Management, Logistics, or related field.
  • 3+ years in LTL pricing and procurement.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional sales experience in the logistics or freight industry, 3rd party logistics LTL experience.
  • High-level analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency.
  • Problem-solver who takes initiative.
  • Ability to succeed with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative under ambiguous circumstances.
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment.
  • Proficient computer skills with PC-based desktop applications, such as Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), email, and web-based meeting and presentation applications, as well as TMS.
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays may be required.
