Growth, innovation, and achievement…
…these are just a few of the words that come to mind when we describe how the first half of 2018 has gone for Spot. We’ve expanded both our Indianapolis and Charlotte offices, had record setting new hire and summer intern classes, launched our own proprietary technology for carriers, and celebrated a few significant employee achievements.
Earlier this year, we announced the expansion of our Charlotte office. We moved into a new space that is seven times larger than our previous space and plan to add 50 new faces to the team by the end of the year. In Indy, we are looking towards the future as well. We have expanded to the third floor of our downtown office. When the build-out is complete at the end of the year, we’ll have doubled the size of our work space.
Record-setting classes of new hires and interns have joined the team. This summer, we took on our largest intern class yet in Indianapolis – twenty students representing six different schools spread out amongst each of our departments. A few weeks later, our largest new hire class of 40 employees started! These fresh faces have been bringing great attitudes and energy to the team, and we are very excited to already see their impact on Spot.
Spot is committed to being more than just a broker, and with this comes creating our own proprietary technology for carriers and drivers. Spot has over 50,000 contract carriers, and with the use of our new tools, managing loads has become much more efficient and streamlined.
With RED Trucks, carriers can accept and reject tenders, search for available loads based on various specifications, respond to spot bid requests, enter available equipment to receive notifications on matching shipments, and submit invoices…all in one SPOT!
RED Driver allows drivers to update their current location in order to avoid check calls, view load details, send status of stops, submit POD’s, and search & book available loads all from their mobile device.
Spot’s investment into these tools pushes us even closer to being a one-stop-shop for our carriers and drivers.
We are on track to have a record breaking year, approaching $200M in revenue, which is up 96% from last year. This large jump is attributed to growth of existing customer accounts, bringing on new customer accounts, and the employee count growth of Spot overall.
In addition to our financial achievements, we have had significant personal achievements this year by celebrating some very important anniversaries. Five employees reached their five year anniversary, and our two longest tenured employees celebrated between six and seven years with us. Spot wouldn’t be the same without their leadership and industry knowledge.
This year has already been one of amazing growth, innovation, and achievement for Spot living up to our three pillars of relationships, technology, and GREAT people. Here’s to an even more successful second half of 2018!
