SPOT ACCELERATES GROWTH WITH EXPANSION OF INDIANAPOLIS HEADQUARTERS

May 2, 2019

Spot Freight Inc. (Spot), is excited to announce the expansion of its downtown Indianapolis headquarters at 141 S. Meridian Street. After moving into the second floor of the former Jillian’s Entertainment facility in November of 2016, Spot has recently completed the buildout of the 18,000 square foot third floor. This expansion has doubled the size of Spot’s office space, now totaling 36,000 square feet across its two floors.

“This expansion of Spot is a testament to a thriving economy in Indianapolis,” said Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett. “It’s exciting to support the growth cycle of successful businesses and motivated leaders, and with Spot doubling its downtown footprint over the last three years to accommodate its positive trajectory, I can’t wait to see what’s next.”

With the Indianapolis expansion, as well as the continued growth of Spot’s first satellite office in Charlotte, North Carolina, Spot has positioned itself as one of the fastest growing logistics companies in North America committed to providing its customers with a smarter way to ship. The new third floor includes more than 150 work stations, allowing the company to accommodate its increased hiring efforts and expanding customer base.

“With a strong logistics industry and thriving tech sector, Indiana offers companies like Spot the perfect place to scale their operations and create quality opportunities for Hoosiers to advance their careers,” said Elaine Bedel, President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “We’re grateful for Spot’s commitment to Indiana, which enhances the state’s reputation as a global logistics leader, and are confident that our skilled workforce will enable the company to continue to grow and better serve its clients around the world.”

Stemming off its previous expansion announcement in 2016, Spot has invested more than $2 million in its 2016 and 2019 expansions to continue to grow its Indiana footprint over the next five years. As the tech scene continues to grow in the Midwest, Spot has also made a significant investment in its proprietary software, RED. RED combines Spot’s custom transportation management system for shippers, driver mobile app and load board for carriers, and an internal CRM. RED ultimately allows for increased efficiency and communication across Spot’s audiences: its shippers, carriers, and employees.

“In 2016, we made a commitment to create up to 257 new jobs by 2023. Indiana’s advantageous business climate with easy access to talent from local universities and status as a transportation hub has made this goal attainable as we will surpass that number within the next year,” said Andrew Elsener, Co-Founder of Spot. “We are also very excited to announce that our new floor features a bowling alley and gym, which help to further complement our recruiting and internal employee engagement efforts.”

Spot currently employs approximately 200 employees in the U.S., including more than 180 in Indiana. The company plans to continue hiring for sales, IT, customer service, accounting, and operations roles over the next several years. Interested applicants may apply online at spotinc.com/careers.
